In Aug 2024, India banned 156 fixed-dose combination (FDC) drugs, including painkillers, antibiotics, anticold medicines, cough syrups, and multivitamins, due to risks like liver damage, unclear benefits, and improper approvals. This was done to ensure safer, higher-quality medicines for the public.
